Tonight was mostly tripped out space rock and related grooves. I thought going in to the show that it would be more subdued and floating sounds but as I browsed through the KAOS library I became more energized and also found a brand new release by Mondo Topless to start the show, then the rest of it took shape easily decorating two hours with fun music. Soo much to do and so little to say!

I’m working on remodeling our house and it’s taking up most of my “spare” time so I’m not spending much time on all the other projects I’m involved in.
Music has been taking a “side-car seat” as well as pottery. My job has gotten very slow at the same time so I have more time to work on the house and property but then money is tight and blah blah blah. ( my wife and I are struggling to keep from biting each others heads off  ) If you see mine rolling by please send it back this way!

I've become aware of the lack of experimental shows on kaos these days. I know that programing on this station changes with the tide and the school year but there used to be more freeform and out there programing in years past. Perhaps the time for those sort of radio experiments has come and gone or maybe there will be a resurgence in the future, I can't say. Is there anyone else out there who misses totally off the wall quirkiness coming out of there radio sometimes?

It's Tuesday morning and I'm beginning to formulate a plan for tonight's program.

It's the anniversary of the Apollo 16 (the 5th mission to land on the moon) return to earth in 1972 and the 1961 launch of NASA's Explorer 11 satellite.

In 1981 on this day Xerox introduced the computer mouse!

Also a 1978 Nuclear accident at Willow Island, W. Virginia which killed 51 people.

and in 1989 students in Beijing took over Tienanmen Square .

on April 28th 1969 King Crimson debut with Greg Lake, Ian McDonald, Michael Giles, Robert Fripp and Peter Sinfield. We all know this album and I'm going to play something from it tonight.

KAOS is a truly free form, non commercial, independent radio station. We are volunteer operated and depend on community support to bring music and public affairs information to the Public Airwaves.
Each dj's makes all content decisions about their own show and that means we are not beholden to any top down music director or corporate sponsor. We each try to make programs that expose the listeners to interesting music rarely heard on the radio anywhere in a context that is entertaining, enjoyable or just rocks! :)

It's becoming more and more difficult to bring in funding for this sort of community service and I want to inspire those who do support it in theory or in practice to go the next step and contribute to the station.

Community voices on the air. Real people with real, important contributions to make.
You are able to hear this only because people have supported this station for the last 38 years in many ways. Things have changed a lot in those years and media is now more complicated and more big business than ever.

KAOS is perhaps the only station that still gives free training to community members who want to put a show on the air!
