There's so much I didn't get to it's ridiculous! I still haven't figured out how to squeeze 4 hours of music into a 2 hour show. (even with shoehorn and a trash compactor.) Also discovered that the cd drive on the air studio computer has been removed so I had to play my mp3 disc from the new console cd unit but it doesn't let a person easily view tracks or remaining time and it took a lot to find the tracks I needed. I managed to work it out but it was not very convenient. Thanks again for the calls.

Next week I'm celebrating 2 years of "Dancing in Circles" with the annual All Genesis hour. Last year I broadcast Genesis related music for the whole show and it was great fun. This year I'm thinking about just the last hour being old Genesis(the Peter Gabriel years) and related covers and solo projects.

Thanks to the KAOS community for allowing me to bring you 2 years of eclectic progressive, fusion, electronic, new and old tripped out psychedelic, jam bands, experimental and more. I tried to squeeze as much music into 2 hours as possible, but as always it's never enough time. Also chose an unfortunate song to try and mix with The Lusty Month of May. Felt like playing around with it and wanted to use something surprising and strange but it turned out to be not such a good mix & too strange. In fact possibly the most difficult listening segment of any show in recent history! It did however make me look for what would work well and I think I've found it. If I ever do it again I'll have a much better match.Thanks for the calls!

a new week

Hi all!
Thanks for dropping by. It's a brand new week here at the
Dancing in Circles World Headquarters. I'm looking at life with all of my eyes open again. I've actually had a good amount of sleep for a few nights in a row, what a change that can make.

This week's KAOSinWONDERLAND theme will be snakes. As the erroneous legend has it Saint Patrick is responsible for chasing all the snakes from Ireland, which since there is no record of snakes ever being in Ireland, is quite an accomplishment. Of course the 'snakes' referred to were probably the Pagans that acknowledged the nature spirits and they were chased underground and/or off the island so I'm assuming many of them ended up eventually here in the 'New World'. But for the sake of simplicity, celebrating with Snake Songs will do for a theme.

It's Spring

.... Forward in time....?
That stupid time of year when the USA moves it clocks ahead an hour. We all agree to abide by this illusion for some fleakin' reason that I just can't explain.

It's also time for the KAOS radio spring membership drive which
I can explain! We need your support to stay on the air bringing you as much independent music and information as we can fit into 7 days every week. It takes nearly 100 volunteers to keep this happening and it takes about $100 dollars and hour to keep this radio station on the air.
We have to raise the money and so we ask the listeners to chip in and give us the love in the form of a pledge of $20 to $365 dollars and become members which in turn gives you not only the satisfaction of knowing you help keep this kaos beast alive, but also a whole bunch of other goodies that you can find out about by giving us a call at 360 867 5267 this week.

...and it was another night of silent telephones when I begin to wonder if anyone is listening (that's not all together true because Domenica called and I'm glad she did. She requested a song from the Mountain Goats Tallehasse cd which was one of 2 Mt.Goat discs I had pulled and was just loading into the cd player as she called!!!) and if I'm doing it all wrong and nobody cares and maybe I should leave it to the fast talking, on target, hip and hype dj's....................Aaaah but NO.
This is community radio, and as such is open to those of us who have an appreciation for the differing styles of delivering music and information over the airwaves. I'm a voice of the Um and Aah and mumbling, stumbling audiocircus clown. True I have room for improvement on that front as well.
I sure do enjoy trying to put this show together and sharing the tunes with you.
Doing Domenica's show was more fun than my own last night and I'm not sure what to make of that. Perhaps I'm just not used to a 4 hour air shift.

This was a very strange sort of night. Probably because I hadn't slept much in the previous 72 hours and was feeling a bit off center and spaced out. So why didn't I play anything from Happy New Year by Oneida recently??? and Why isn't Tartufi on my best of 2006 list and why haven't I played anything by them in a long time? These are very good questions, I'm glad you asked. The answer is "I FORGOT"!!! But I will fix that.
