Just got back from the Kitsap Co. American Cancer Society Relay for Life. It was good weather for walking, dry and partly clear, mid 60's. Lots of people there. Many survivors as well as support people.

KAOS is airing the Pacifica coverage of the "Winter Soldier" testimony forum, live from outside of Washington DC this weekend. It's Very important stuff to hear/ bear witness to. Stories from Iraq war vets and other victims of this travesty which we are still in the midst of.

And to process that which we've heard, on Dancing in Circles this Tuesday night my theme will be Casualties of War, featuring some poetry/prose and songs that deal with this dark dilemma we find ourselves in again. what's to become of kaos?

So, we have struggled thru another kaos membership drive and it's been a rough one.
Again!

Maybe 35 years is all we get. Should we give up and let Clear Channel take over?

Ok, no we're not going away but with the changing media landscape we must look forward.
What do you think? How can we keep independent radio alive? Do enough people care?

Certainly some devoted citizens do but it seems we may be too few at this point to carry on as we have, so what is the next phase of funding for local community radio?

Unlike parking services, who charge you upfront for the privilege of using their space and services, and who, if you don’t pay, will write you a ticket and make you pay more, we ask you to voluntarily recognize that we provide you with valuable information and entertainment and hope that you will volunteer to help keep that coming your way, for you and the rest of the community by making a pledge of monetary support toward the radio station.

I know some people hate to hear us seemingly begging and pleading for your involvement in this process, but we really need to be able to show we have listeners and there's no other way for us to show that in radio without your direct support. We can't monitor your radios and know who's listening. (unlike the web!)

Tomorrow is TripleDogDare rehearsal day. (still ambivalent about that name)
Pete has been in contact with Moon from The Matrix about setting up a gig. Scheduling 2 bands/ containing 7 guys with work and life schedules is more complicated than we wish it were.
It’s looking like it won’t be till May sometime now. We won’t know for another week since Pete left for Arizona Tuesday. I’m hopeful that all these little setbacks are for a good reason and when the show finally happens that it is gratifying.
We'll need to assemble more Virtual Radio cd’s and I'm going to put together a limited edition jam disc too. Say 12 copies or so. 

Michael’s laptop crashed last week and he’s lost a bunch of work from the last couple months. That also probably means we won’t be uploading much more to the Dreamtime in Dreamsville project before the deadline on the 29th. I haven’t been able to bring myself to focus on recording my Fever Dream song anyhow. Too many distractions and other projects that need to be attended to. Many others that I haven’t yet gotten to as well. Car issues, job issues, pottery, house and garden need work, etc. etc.

Next weekend we’re going to Leavenworth with my parents for a couple of days too.

That’ll do it for this random entry. I guess this was a crossover entry fusing my tripledogdare self with my dancingincircles and personal blogs. But...What the Hell. I can't keep it all separated in my brain either.

Fat Tuesday's theme

The media has been hyping up the "Super Tuesday" shoobee doowah , OK. And then there's Carnival which is a traditional focus of this day and has been the theme for a number of shows over the last couple days on kaos and other stations and I thought I could do something more with that, but then... I heard a news story about New Orleans being so very high in violence and murders over the last couple years and that brought me to thinking about "Guns".

'Ah.. there's a theme for the KAOSinWONDERLAND segment of the program tonight' I thought.

There is no shortage of songs about guns and violence in this gun crazy country and world so I'll go there and I'll just try to limit it to less than an hour.!!#*? maybe.
